Amazing time had by all at this years GOC. It was great to see the return of the dance season extravaganza which many teachers, coaches, dancers and schools were missing so much.
Whilst it was good to see a high return level it was clear that we have far to go to return to pre-covid days.
With all the focus currently on Breakin it was great to have this event return with a view on our Standard and Latin Dancers along with our friends from Boogie Woogie. The event thankfully raises a good amount of income for the WDSF through the licensing fees of each competition. Good income to help support the Olympic dream further.
Returning home from a long flight there was time to internalize thoughts of where is our money going? As a member of a NMB we pay for local membership, we pay for ID cards and we pay entry fees to pay WDSF to let the competition run.
Time to take a look at the latest accounts and financial regulations. Do we ringfence Standard and Latin finances to protect and progress our sport or do we let our cash fund third party developments?
